Three traveling teachers and several friends now have main topic of their lives (till the end of December) – moreEC evenings. The Czech approach to the moreEC campaign has been to organize a moreEC evening or weekend in every one of our centers or groups (we have 45 of them so far). We are doing it in an informal way, not by sending reports and forms, but by visiting friends, having a nice time together and sharing our experiences, information and friendship. Here are some recent events…
Over 30 friends from central Czech region organized a travel tour through all their centers–they called it “fireball.” We took busses and cars and visited all (seven) centers around Prague. In each city the meditation on the 16th Karmapa and ten minutes talk took part and after a short programme followed. The programme was set up by each center, depending on time and appetite. We also had a moreEC Casino party, where we played roulette, poker etc. Simply said, we had dynamic and joyfull weekend in which the Sanghas strengthened our already great and smooth cooperation and friendship.
Another recent moreEC weekend was with Petra Jarosova and Veronika Cerna in Jilemnice—a little historical town close to Krkonose. Our friends organized it as a gathering of northern Czech centers and prepared an amazing event—The Jilemnice Football Cup. Many people came from the whole area, as well as from Prague, Brno etc. We had 90 people under one roof.
On Friday morning, seven teams prepared to battle for a golden cup, and for the honor of being part part of the international Football Cup in Bochum in November. We even had dancing girls, grill, beer and many friends supporting the match. Every team payed a starting fee and thus we opened our informal moreEc fundraising.
Friends also made a betting shop. In the evening, the winners got their cup and a cake in the shape of a football pitch. The next days we continued with regular meditations and lectures and one evening we dedicated to moreEC presentation and fundraising.
The football event was continued in Brno, were our guys collected money to be able to play in Bochum. They prepared the whole amusing night opened by a male leg show (the rest of the bodies were hidden behind the curtain) and a jury was voting for most beautiful male legs. One of the jury members was Zsuzsa from Budapest who held the weekend there.
Then we had an auciton of their football dresses and one beautiful amber mala made in the Europe Center. All had a great fun, even our Hungarian guests.
As part of the effort to collect as much as possible throughout the Americas, friends in the Midwest used their favorite fundraising technique: a week-long match grant. This means a group committed to paying $3,100 together IF AND ONLY IF they could also raise at least that much from others within a week.
We celebrated and began the moreEC campaign and raffle fundraising during a retreat weekend with Holger Schmidt on the 9th of October. After a public lecture and clear and inspiring teachings :-), we had a peruvian style BBQ & drinks and held a presentation for the project and the Americas raffle! We also chose the winner of an internal raffle we have been holding each year for those who have worked the hardest – the prize was a ticket to KDL (our retreat center in Uruguay, in December).
We have been so inspired by all the pictures and events that have been held across the Americas :-) and will keep posting more activities in Peru as they come!
Let’s keep up the good energy and work everyone! With hugs from all the Peruvian Sangha and we hope to see you all soon!! at the EC!!!!!
On Friday October 21, 2011, a time machine transported the Berlin sangha directly into the Roaring Nineteen-Twenties. Dressed as ladies and gentlemen, dandies and gangsters, the Berliners celebrated their trip to the Golden Age of the German capital in the best of styles … all for the benefit of moreEC.
The Buddhist Center Mila transformed into an underground Casino. The evening started with an inspiring presentation about the EC’s importance and its current activities by our special guests Yomi and Jeremiah, followed by a five-piece choir who sung the good ol’ German Schlager “Ein Freund, ein guter Freund” (“A Friend, a Good Friend”). The casino provided the following games at five tables for its guests: Black Jack, Poker and Roulette. Two of these tables were for our “high rollers,” who wanted to play for higher stakes.
The casino activities also included a brief but very captivating Tango performance with a mysterious lady-in-red, a mind-blowing Argentinean piano player and guitarist. Throughout the evening, our well-dressed friends enjoyed professional photo shoots in the VIP room of the “Monte-Carlo Casino.”
The casino patrons won multiple prizes in the raffle at the end of the evening, including the New Year’s Course this year in Hamburg, one retreat and many other prizes offered by our sangha friends. More than 2,600 Euros were raised via donations at the tables, drinks, snacks, hawker trays and the photo shoots.
After the raffle, true to the spirit of the Roaring Twenties, the time travelers hit the dance floor and partied on until sunrise.
This More-EC evening was much more than a wonderful party and fund-raising event: it brought Buddhist friends from all corners together to strengthen their bonds and support the EC’s beneficial work from afar. The girls and boys of Berlin never looked as beautiful as on this very special night!
Three months ago we’ve posted a challenge on our just-launched website’s blog. Around 50 of you joined the challenge and fulfilled the steps necessary to make it to the drawing.
Now we have a winner: Ulf Meyer - Ulf, you have won one of the outstanding moreEC yellow bags. Congratulations!
PS: upon a popular request, a new yellow bags edition is being prepared for Hamburg NYC 2011 :)
You’ve heard about it. You’ve seen the trailer. You might have even see the raw movie preview at the International Summer Course. Today, we’re happy to bring you the real thing – the finished final moreEC movie cut!
The movie was created by filmmakers and animators from seven different countries who interviewed more then 40 people involved in the EC project and shot dozens of hours of material. It is a documentary supporting the moreEC fundraising campaign by mapping opinions, wishes and ideas behind the Europe Center project.

Finally in Poland we have also started to talk widely about the moreEC project. On the 8th of October we had parties simultaneously in different centers. We used the newest technology, connecting with each other via computers including live video which you could see from over 20 centers at the same time! It was so great to party in local centers while seeing friends on the other side of the country. We had a lot of fun talking and performing in front of the cameras—we managed to talk about filling out the donation forms, the moreEC website and the new project itself. We also watched together a 12 minute speech from Lama Ole from the moreEC kick-off evening of the EC Summer Course.
To show the internationality of the project we also connected with Caty and Roman at the Europe Center, friends in Oslo (Norway), Sheffield (UK), Hamburg (Germany), Dallas, Minneapolis and the Heartland Retreat Center (US). At the end as the cherry on a top, we managed to connect with Lama Ole who just finished his lecture in Riga (Lithuania). The Lama sent his thankfulness to all of the people involved in the moreEC project and encouraged us to continue our work to reach our great goal.
Some of the centers prepared dress-up parties with the main theme of “Hazards Night,” others had great dinners and joyful parties. Together we decided to give all of the collected money from the evening to the moreEC project—donating a few thousands Euros across Poland already and counting ;)
Enjoy the photos from the evening at Stupa House in Warsaw :)
In the Americas where travel to the EC can be a challenge, the EC mindset of international coopration has inspired us to increasingly coordinate our dharma work together across Latin- and Anglo-America. In this way, not only are we gaining greater momentum for moreEC in the Americas, but also bringing our sanghas together through our collective work.
About 75 percent of our centers have had some kind of moreEC presentation and launching of the campaign. Enjoy the collection of photos below from throughout the Americas. Many are from kickoff evenings where sanghas shared a common Americas moreEC presentation. Check out the Diamond Way Americas Project website and the Americas Project Facebook Group for more photos and info on all our common activity.
V neposlední řadě 2500 m2 obytné a vzdělávací budovy výrazně zvětší počet pokojů a nabídne stálé prostory pro výstavy, setkání, semináře a další podobné události.
Na začátku září jsme měli to štěstí přivítat v našem divokém a krásném retreatovém centru Minkovka Šeraba Gyaltsena rinpočheho a lamu Oleho. Obklopeni slunečnicemi a přáteli v dharmě jsme si užívali skutečný kurz Milarepy.
Nadále budeme pokračovat v šíření inspirace z jedné země do druhé. Je skvělé se cítit jako jedna velká rodina, která společně pracuje na obřím projektu. Budeme pracovat, jak nejlépe dokážeme a budeme se na vás těšit.
